Wow this is lame. I nearly got (meaning I got, but don't want to admit to it) teary eyed when watching the trailer for the Pearl Jam 20 video. Probably a necessary sidenote: Pearl Jam is my all time favorite band. They were actually the first concert I ever went to. I was in 5th grade, and my (older, much cooler) brother came home and said, "Did you see Pearl Jam is coming to town?", to which I said "YES!". No. I didn't. But I memorized whatever he had just said and then did my research. Not only did he introduce me to the music, but offered to take me to the show.. IF I could pay for my own ticket. Lots of hours spent in the dirt in my mom's garden doing chores I hated, I earned the money to go to the show. Pearl Jam. The Vitalogy Tour. Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I was there. Been listening ever since.
Now after nine full length albums, and twenty years together, Pearl Jam is celebrating a big anniversary. Pearl Jam Twenty, a documentary on the band directed by Cameron Crow, comes out in just a few weeks. A countdown is taking place right here, with a new piece of content being released each day until the movie comes out. In select theaters FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, Pearl Jam 20 will be shown on the big screen on September 20, 2011. Check out the participating theaters and buy tickets here. On the same nostalgic date the official soundtrack and book will also be available. You can pre-order it right now.
