Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s day is practically here (it’s tomorrow, Sunday, May 10th.) The reality this year….is that even if you ordered a present already, it could be delayed due to covid. Hence, if you haven’t ordered yet, get on it! And then start the day with a nice call and an ecard, and say the gift is on its way!

But what to buy?

You can’t go wrong with sweets…but evolve beyond a common box of chocolates. We recommend beautiful macaroons by the Macaroon Queen.

If edibles aren’t your thing, how about scent? A trial pack from Le Labo would be appreciated by anyone.

If you would prefer to buy a present that will last longer than dessert or perfume, a 14k gold anklet is a great bet – with bonus points because mom will never have to take it off. (14k gold won’t tarnish in water.)

Or maybe you would prefer to send mom a bottle of her favorite spirit. Do that…and send some retro-inspired glasses that look straight out of the Great Gatsby.

Finally, if you want to send mom something very practical.. yes, the products from Blueland are cleaning supplies… but they come with a brilliant mission and advanced technology that any mom would appreciate.

Macaroon Mix by Macaroon Queen, $27

Buy mom some sweets.. but get something unexpected and surprisingly ‘healthy.’ Now these aren’t healthy like an apple, but they do contain less calories than, say, cupcakes. By a lot.

The French Mix Inspired can be purchased in quantities of 10, 25, 40, 60 or 80, and contains flavors like French Raspberry, Cappuccino and Mango White Chocolate.

Discovery Set by Le Labo, $85

A Le Labo full-size fragrance can run you nearly $200. A large bottle closer to $300, and the mega-size (16.9 fl oz) a whopping $1k. It’s an investment, but it’s worth it. But fragrance is personal, so instead of taking a chance on one of their many amazing scents, get her a sampler.

There is a Le Labo Discovery Sets for $85, and includes (4) .17 fl oz sprays.. so she can not only smell great daily, but also pick her favorite and invest in a full size later. If you’re looking for a less expensive alt, they also have a discovery set for just $30 with 1.5ml sprays. Finally, they have a (17) piece set, $89, to embark on their full fragrance journey.

14k Yellow Gold Hearts Anklet, $450 at Macy’s

Why 14k gold? Mom won’t ever have to take it off. Yes, you can get a less expensive version elsewhere. Yes, you can get it from an independent retailer (and there are lots of cute jewelry ones nowadays..) BUT – going for gold, means you don’t have to take it off when you shower or swim.

We recommend this anklet, Oval and Hearts Chain Anklet in 14k Yellow Gold, for $450. Right now Macy’s has a coupon code (FOR YOU) to get it for just $315. And it will last, like, forever.

The Clean Essentials, $39 by Blueland

Normally, of course, we would not recommend cleaning supplies for mom on mother’s day. BUT we want to get mom something she’ll use, something she’ll appreciate – and still, something pretty. Since when are cleaning supplies pretty? Now they are.

AND – Blueland has an amazing mission we think mom will appreciate. They’re trying to get rid of single-use plastic bottles in a very key spot: under the sink, and with the soap you use to wash your hands. Couple this gift with a small bouquet of flowers and a card, and we’re sure your mom will be over the moon.
